Canada has a long and accomplished history in fusion research and development. For over 15 years, the Canadian Fusion Fuels Technology Project (CFFTP) kept Canada at the forefront of fusion science, specializing in many important areas of fusion.
For 10 years, the Canadian government and many corporate sponsors funded the operation of the Tokamak de Varennes at the Centre canadien de fusion magnetique TdeV (CCFM). The TdeV was highly successful mid-sized research reactor that pushed the boundaries of fusion containment and stability.
Canadian universities too have continued to sustain well respected programs in fusion education across the country which have led to many advancements in fusion-related areas.
Canada is now enthusiastically pursuing the opportunity to have the International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor (ITER), the pinacle of the global fusion effort, sited in Clarington, Ontario. Read more about this project and what it means to Canadian science and technology below. Send your support for the Canada's ITER bid to info@itercanada.com today!
